TECH TIPS ON KEYBOARD, MOUSE OR TRACKPAD NOT WORKING

The first thing is to check if the peripherals you connected are causing the problems. Disconnect if you have connected an external keyboard or a mouse and try connecting it again. You do know that sometimes that is all it takes to get them working. The next step then would be to check for the system updates. If it is available, you definitely need to work on it and get it updated. 

Most of the times deleting the trackpad property list files also works. First open finder, then Go -> Go to folder sub menu. The shortcut key to got to the finder is Command + Shift + G.

In the dialog that pops up, type the “/Library/Preferences/” path, then click Go. In the Finder window that displays, look for the following files:

com.apple.AppleMultitouchTrackpad.plist 

com.apple.preference.trackpad.plist

If these files are present, delete them and restart your MacBook. If you are still experiencing issues with your Trackpad, then it might need further diagnosis.
